7 things you need to know about Tour De Lunsar!

1.     Tour de Lunsar is Sierra Leone’s largest cycling race. The 3 day event sees Sierra Leonean cycling teams, local and visiting cyclists participate in the annual event sponsored by Science in Sport, Ministry of sport and more.

2.     The first race begins the day before. The ladies and junior cyclists race starts on the 24th March, from Lunsar to Port Loko, Sierra Leone

3.     The race begins at 10:30 am – for elite cyclists, starting from Freetown to Lunsar.

4.     The Final stage of the race will take place in Lunsar. Cyclists will ride 87 kilometers starting in Lunsar to Port Loko to return at the finish line in Lunsar.

5.     Tour De Lunsar was started and founded by Lunsar cyclist and activist Karim Kamara. When I asked the founder why he started Tour De Lunsar he responded. ‘ I want to show people Sierra Leone through sports’. Karim has set up initiatives in his hometown of Lunsar where they do village tours, bike donations to schoolchildren who are walking long distances to school. He also teaches girls how to ride a bike.

6.     Yasmix have collaborated with Tour De Lunsar! The events that I host will exhibit content from the event on 1st April 2022 by a team of Sierra Leonean creatives.
